Raúl Álvarez Genes (born 5 November 1988), known as AuronPlay, is a Spanish YouTuber and Twitch streamer from Badalona, Catalonia. He created his YouTube channel in 2006 and, from around 2012, built a large audience with videos that satirised and criticised internet phenomena, later performing live comedy shows. In September 2019 he began streaming on Twitch, where he became one of the world's most-followed creators, reaching the number-one position globally in August 2021. He stopped uploading to his main YouTube channel in 2021 and is known for variety streams, Minecraft events and GTA V roleplay. His main YouTube channel had 29.1 million subscribers as of 2026.

Raúl Álvarez Genes was born on 5 November 1988 in Badalona, Catalonia, Spain. He created his YouTube channel, AuronPlay, on 28 February 2006. His first notable video, titled 'Mis aficiones', dates from 2009.

YouTube careeredit

From 2012 AuronPlay began producing a series of videos criticising and satirising internet phenomena, which became the basis of his popularity. In 2018 he posted a viral video criticising a stalker, which became the most-viewed content of his career. He remained one of Spain's most-subscribed YouTubers; as of 2026 his main AuronPlay channel had 29.1 million subscribers and a second channel, Auron, had 15.8 million. He announced his retirement from YouTube on 2 September 2021, after which his main channel stopped publishing new videos.

Move to Twitchedit

AuronPlay opened his Twitch channel in September 2019 and quickly became one of the platform's largest creators. He participated in the Karmaland 4 Minecraft server and began a Spain RP (roleplay) series. By November 2021 he was reported as the second-biggest streamer on Twitch, surpassed only by Ninja, and in August 2021 he reached the number-one position globally. He has been described as the fourth most-followed Twitch channel in the world and the second among Spanish-language channels, with more than 16 million followers.

Streaming projects and venturesedit

AuronPlay has organized and taken part in several large streaming events, including the Marbella Vice roleplay server (2021), the Tortillaland Minecraft event (2021) and Tortillaland 2 (August 2022), and a Squid Game-themed Twitch Rivals event in January 2022 and a Saw Minecraft Games event in June 2022. In business, he launched the 'Auron Mask' line in December 2020 and opened the AuronHouse clothing brand on 21 May 2024.

AuronPlay won Best Influencer at the GoliAds in 2019. In 2021 he won Streamer of the Year at the MTV Millennial Awards and Gamer MVP at the Kids' Choice Awards Mexico. At the Premios ESLAND he won Series of the Year for Tortillaland in 2022 and Best Miniseries and Series of the Year in 2024.

Personal life and controversiesedit

AuronPlay was in a relationship with content creator Sara Moledo (Biyín) from 2013 until April 2024, and confirmed a new relationship with Sara Ismael in early 2025. Earlier in his career he was involved in several disputes, including a 2015 controversy over a hashtag, a 2016 prank-call incident with fellow YouTuber Wismichu, and a defamation complaint filed by Josep Maria Bartomeu around 2017–2018 that was rejected by the Spanish courts; the two reconciled in December 2019.
