Tyler Faraz Niknam (born December 20, 1990), known online as Trainwreckstv, is an American live streamer of Iranian descent. Raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, he graduated from Arizona State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in analytic philosophy before beginning to stream gaming and in-real-life content in 2015. He became known for hosting the Scuffed Podcast and later for cryptocurrency gambling broadcasts, and he holds a partial ownership stake in the streaming platform Kick. Niknam was born in the United States on December 20, 1990, and was raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, in a family of Iranian descent. He attended Arizona State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in analytic philosophy in 2014. He began his online streaming career the following year.

Streaming careeredit

Niknam began streaming gaming and in-real-life (IRL) content in 2015. In late 2020 he took up the social-deduction game Among Us, winning the Code Red tournament and its $5,000 prize on October 6, 2020. His Twitch channel had grown to 2.1 million followers by May 31, 2024, while his YouTube channel had surpassed 230,000 subscribers and 35.1 million views.

Scuffed Podcastedit

In April 2019, Niknam debuted the Scuffed Podcast, a talk program covering the live-streaming community and its culture. The show became one of the ventures most associated with his public profile alongside his streaming output.

Gambling content and Kickedit

From around 2022, Niknam became closely associated with online gambling streams, broadcasting cryptocurrency casino play. In October 2022 he claimed to have received approximately $360 million in gambling sponsorship payments over a 16-month period. He holds a partial ownership stake in Kick, a streaming platform launched as a competitor to Twitch, where he had 309,000 followers as of May 2024.

Controversiesedit

Niknam received a five-day Twitch suspension in November 2017 and an indefinite Twitch ban in October 2018, both for sexist comments, the latter made during an Overwatch stream. He was later criticized for streaming cryptocurrency gambling on platforms such as Stake that were said to be illegal in some jurisdictions, before shifting his gambling broadcasts to Kick.
